Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cut-off age limit to get a certificate from ECSC?

No. We have no maximum age restrictions. If you have the skills and experience or you have completed our online course, you will get your certificate.

I’m 16 years old. Can I enrol with ECSC?

Unfortunately, no. Our students must be a minimum of 18 years old to enrol.

Is a high school certificate required for entry?

No. There are no entry requirements besides satisfying the minimum age criterion.

Is ECSC recognised?

ECSC is an independent, international credentialing body that defines and verifies entry-level competence in elder caregiving. For the RPE pathway to certification, we assess your knowledge and skills using a detailed evaluation tool. For the online course pathway, your satisfactory completion of the curriculum (with a grade of 80% or higher) is recognised as sufficient competence for ECSC certification.

What if I don't have 3 years of formal employment?

The RPE pathway may consider informal work experience gained from family caregiving, volunteer work and other care arrangements. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.

How long does the RPE pathway take?

An average of 6 weeks from your initial enrolment to the issuance of your certificate. However, each student's case is unique. Some students will finish faster, some will take longer. Please note, if any significant gaps in your knowledge or skills are noted during your assessment period, you will need to complete additional training and evaluation in order to receive your certificate. ECSC will provide you with this additional training and evaluation AT NO ADDITIONAL COST.

Can I start the course immediately after payment?

Yes! With our online course, immediate access to your first module is granted once you have completed enrolment. Successive modules are released to you week by week. With our RPE Pathway, you will have access to the competence assessment form as soon as you complete your enrolment. This must be completed, submitted, reviewed and accepted before your certificate can be issued. You will be notified by email of the outcome of this review. Some applicants will require additional training and evaluation.

What do graduates use an ECSC certificate for?

Our graduates, called Certified Elder Care Practitioners, use their certificate as supporting documentation for immigration applications (Canada, UK, USA, Australia), as supporting documentation for employment applications and to support their career promotion efforts.

What does ECSC certification verify?

ECSC certification verifies that the certificate holder has successfully completed our elder caregiver training programme and demonstrated competency in essential caregiving knowledge and skills. It is a competency-based certification.

What does ECSC certification NOT verify?

Identity verification, criminal background status or employment history. These are the responsibility of the employer. We recommend that all employers conduct verification protocols as part of their standard hiring process.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes. For both our online course and our RPE pathway certification, a full refund is available within the first 14 days after enrolment.

Will my certificate have an expiration date?

No. Your ECSC certificate does not expire. However, many employers are now asking for evidence of ‘Continuing Professional Development’ (CPD). We will advise you on these next steps when we send you your certificate. We encourage our students to keep up to date with developments in the elder care industry.

What payment methods do you accept?

Credit cards and PayPal.
