Elder Care Skills Certification (ECSC) was founded to address a critical gap in the profession: experienced caregivers worldwide possess valuable skills but lack the official recognition they deserve because they do not have a certificate that confirms their skills and competence.

Traditional training programmes often exclude mature workers through age restrictions or entry requirements. Sometimes these programmes want you to prove your abilities by going back to the classroom or by taking exams. But you've already mastered the necessary skills and knowledge to do your job competently after years of hands-on experience.

ECSC solves this dilemma for you by offering three separate pathways to elder care certification:

• Recognition of Prior Experience (RPE) pathway- this validates your competency (i.e. your knowledge and skills)
• Traditional online course- this builds foundational competencies through structured learning
• Gap programme- this is for workers who are eligible to receive partial credit towards the certificate but need some structured training to fill in the gaps in certain core competencies

All three pathways lead to certification. This certification may open the door to better salaries, migration opportunities and professional advancement.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO NEXT?

Choose the RPE pathway if you:

• Have 3+ years of elder care work experience
• Need certification to migrate, change jobs or want recognition for your existing skills
• Prefer a faster pathway to certification (approximately 4-6 weeks vs 8-10 weeks for the online course)

NB. ECSC will recommend entry into our Gap programme, if necessary, after reviewing your application.

Choose the online course if you:

• Are new to professional caregiving
• Have limited hands-on experience
• Want structured, comprehensive training
• Prefer to learn at your own pace
• Need foundational knowledge and skills
